Sitting on a Lifeguard stand (#16) in Newport Beach. The sun is at that precise point where it illumes the underside of the clouds, backlighting the Channel Islands. On the coast, as I stare south, toward Laguna, the homes along the bluffs of Newport Coast reflect the sun as it dips slowly beneath the horizon, becoming stars upon the earth. They lose their brilliance as their source finally retires below the crest of Santa Catalina Island.
It reminds me of the Sunsets from Tuz Kharmatu and the video I made memorializing them.
